Hook does not win Media Plan of the Year.
The news came in the form of a postcard delivered via the United States Postal Service. The winners of the Media Plan of the Year were on the postcard and much to our surprise, Hook was not a winner. Mindboggling to say the least.
We knew going into the fierce competition that Target and Starbucks would have the upper hand, however, we thought for sure we’d knock Goodby and their California Milk Processor Board’s “Chocolate milk scented bus shelters” on their rear ends. Not the case. We also thought our Taco Boy campaign would almost certainly smother the McDonald’s non-traditional media campaign. Again, not the case.
Hook media director, Jennifer Wagggoner had this to say, “Aeiral banners, custom coozies, fake parking tickets, c’mon? I’m looking into rumors that McDonald’s fed the hungry Media Plan of the Year judges. That’s a load of BS if their ever was one. Congratulations to Universal McCann, Starcom USA, Goodby, Weiden, Butler Shine and all of the other friggin winners.”
We’re not bitter. Just a little surprised.
