Okay, you’ve heard enough about Twitter. You’re sold, kind of. You want to start Tweeting, kind of. But you’re still not 100% sure what Twitter is or how it works or what the benefit is. Or, for that matter, why you need to know that the Zappos CEO just got a haircut. Have no fear, you’re not alone. The Hookers are here to put you at ease.

Simply defined, Twitter is a micro-blogging service that gives you 140 characters to say what’s on your mind. Beyond that, Twitter can be used for networking, for promoting yourself, your business or brand. Twitter is a learning tool, a research tool and a way to hear what people are saying about your brand. David Pogue of The New York Times summed it up best in this article: Twitter? It’s what you make of it.

To get rolling on Twitter, you’ll need to create an account, which is simply a username (carefully chosen) and an avatar (to represent you or your brand). From there, our advice is simple. Watch, learn and have fun.

To enhance your Twittering experience, the Hookers have compiled a list of 25 Twitter Tools that will help get the most out of Twitter, regardless of what you make of it.

Enjoy and happy Tweeting.
